Somraj Banerjee, Kolkata: There is no teacher in the school due to the transfer of teachers! Several letters are coming to the School Service Commission from the headmasters of various schools. The School Service Commission itself has a problem with that. In addition to this letter coming from schools of several districts of the state, the headmasters of some schools have also written to the SSC expressing their fears.

‘Schools may have to be closed if teachers are not found…’ Expressing such apprehension, the head teachers of some schools have sent letters to SSC. Officials of the School Service Commission are worried about that. Although in view of this letter, the commission officials claim that there is not much to do. Because the transfer process is done through the School Service Commission but on the instructions of the School Education Department. It is considered that the commission has nothing to do in this case. Around 25,000 teachers have been transferred across the state from August last year to the last week of September this year.

According to sources in the school education department, four months ago, the state school education secretary Manish Jain asked for an information and report on the number of teachers in various schools due to the transfer of teachers. But even though it was said to ask for the report, it was not done, according to the school education department.

After the Calcutta High Court’s order of last Monday, the discussion has started again within the officials of the department. However, after receiving this information, the officials of the department have also started a discussion on what will be the alternative method for the schools which have a lot of shortfall in student teacher ratio. The State School Education Department has stopped the process of teacher transfer through Utsashree portal since the end of last September. Not only that, the state school education department has also issued specific guidelines that the transfer process will be done twice a year. But for now, school education department officials have begun a series of discussions on how to fill the gap in schools with student-teacher ratio deficits.
