Islamabad (News Desk) Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has approved the revised relief package for the heirs of government employees who died while on duty, which will come into effect on February 9, 2015. According to the official announcement, the 2006 package for civil servants who died on duty has been increased by 300 times. Under the enhanced package, the next of kin of Grade 1 to 4 employees who died on duty will get Rs 6 lakh, the next of kin of Scale 5 to 10 will get Rs 9 lakh, the next of kin of Scale 11 to 15 will get Rs 12 lakh, the next of kin of Scale 16 to 17 employees will get Rs. The heirs will get a lump sum grant of Rs 15 lakh, Rs 24 lakh for the heirs of grade 18 to 19 employees and Rs 30 lakh for the heirs of grade 20 and above employees. In case of security-related deaths, Rs 30 lakh for Grade 1 to 16, Rs 50 lakh for Grade 17, Rs 90 lakh for Grade 18 and 19 and a lump sum grant of Rs 1 crore for Grade 20 and above employees. While Rs.70 lakh will be given to the officers/officials who are disabled and retired from service due to injuries resulting from encounters, bomb blasts, riots, discharge of duty or acts of terrorism. 50 lakhs will be given to the officers and personnel who are still serving in the department who are disabled as a result of injuries in accidents in the above mentioned case. 100% pension will be given to the family members of government employees in case of death during service and death related to security as per their service and last pay. In case of less than 10 years of service, pension will be applicable at the rate of minimum 10 years of service. The heirs will be allowed to get government housing or house rent till the retirement period. Under this package, all children of deceased government employees will get free education till graduation in any public/government educational institution. It includes tuition fee, books related materials and living allowance etc. Abolishing the eligibility of 2% quota for plot allotment, in case of no plot allotment in the past, Rs 20 lakh to employees of grade 1 to 8, Rs 50 lakh to grade 9 to 16 and above grade 17. 70 lakhs will be given to the employees of In the relief package, the children of employees who die during service will be employed on two-year contract basis without advertisement in Grade 1 to 15 posts. A grant of Rs 8 lakh will be given to the families of employees who die during service for the marriage of a daughter. Free medical facilities will be provided during the service as per eligibility. Unpaid amount will be waived in case of advances on salaries approved by AGPR or Provincial AG Office. Any officer of Grade 17 or Grade 18 may be nominated by each Ministry/Division/Department as Counselor for all the facilities provided under the package to the families of Government servants who die in service. Will be responsible for finalizing and delivering them within one month. A special lump-sum payment of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh from the Benevolent Fund has also been approved in case of security-related deaths. If it occurs during an act of terrorism or combating terrorists, regardless of whether the person killed is a member of law enforcement or a civilian employee. The death of a member of the law enforcement agencies from any cause other than an act of terrorism shall be considered a “death in the line of duty”.
