Bumrah, Shami, and Shardul are being rested while the Indian board has also decided to rest Rishabh Pant. Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has also been rested for the first Test. However, Kohli will take charge again in the Mumbai Test.

The BCCI will also announce the names of new coach Rahul Dravid’s assistants on the day of the selection of the Test team against the Kiwis. Vikram Rathore will be the batting coach, Paras Mamre will be the bowling coach and T Dilip will be appointed as the fielding coach of the Indian team.
