In an effort to improve the situation, he started RICE Education in 1985.

Samit Roy Foundation is an NGO registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. It is an initiative of Prof. (Dr.) Samit Roy, Chancellor of Adamas University and Chairman of the Rice Group with the objective of development. It aims to promote education and help economically weaker students enter the workforce.

Since its inception, Samit Roy Foundation has conducted various activities like conducting Maths Olympiad, providing financial assistance to students, providing free medical assistance etc.

The objective of the foundation is to help meritorious students. Those who want to build their career in various government sectors and who are unable to get training from professional training center due to lack of funds, this scholarship gives them an opportunity to take courses from RICE Education. “The Samit Roy Foundation, along with RICE Education, has launched the RICE Talent Scholarship Test to help the talented students of Bengal to excel in State Government Examinations as well as All India Competitive Examinations and bring home success. This is part of our initiative for more success in Bengal and a brighter future for our students!” – Professor (Dr.) Samit Roy
