Pharmacist Details Body Effects One Hour After Drinking Diet Coke

For a long time it was conveyed, probably misleadingly, that the famous diet sodas were “better” than regular sodas.

However, this narrative did not stand up for a long time and the harmful effects also present in these drinks ended up coming to light.

As an example, it is already widely publicized that soft drinks, whether they are diet or not, can induce the appearance of type 2 diabetes, obesity and even other types of diseases, such as atherosclerosis (obstruction of the arteries that bring blood to the heart).

To talk about this subject, pharmacist Niraj Narik, internationally known for warning about the risks of consuming diet sodas, decided to explain what are the effects of consuming Diet Coke.

According to Narik, just ten minutes after taking a sip of the drink, the harmful components contained in it attack tooth enamel and the central nervous system.

“Phosphoric acid attacks the enamel on your teeth, while artificial sweeteners like aspartame target your nervous system. Aspartame can trigger taste receptors and trick your body into thinking it has just processed sugar”, explains the pharmacist, citing compounds present in diet sodas.

Niraj Narik also explains what Diet Coke does to the body after 20, 40 and 60 minutes of consumption. Keep reading and find out!

after 20 minutes

According to Niraj Narik, after the first 20 minutes inside the organism, diet Coke becomes a vector of hormonal destabilization in the body, which can cause weight gain and mood swings, for example.

This happens because this soda has high levels of sugar which, in turn, can negatively influence the body’s endocrine system, which is responsible for the production and destination of hormones.

Even diabetes itself is caused by an endocrinological disorder, since insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar levels, stops being produced and destined correctly for some reason.

after 40 minutes

40 minutes after consumption, diet Coke becomes a vector of stress and addiction.

Niraj Narik explains that this effect is caused by the combination of caffeine and aspartame, which make up the drink.

“The potentially deadly combination of caffeine and aspartame creates an ‘addictive short’ similar to how cocaine works in the brain,” he said.

“In addition, excitotoxins are released, which can deplete your brain by overstimulating your neuroreceptors, especially if Diet Coke is consumed regularly.”

after 60 minutes

Finally, the pharmacist warns that about an hour after ingesting, Diet Coke tends to generate hunger and desire to eat sweets in the individual who consumed it.

According to Narik, this happens because, as the substances contained in soda are processed by the digestive system, the processes mentioned above are repeated and calcified in the body.

“An hour after drinking Diet Coke, your body may still crave sweets. That probably leads to you reaching for another soda, or worse, some other unhealthy fastfood, and the cycle continues,” she explains.

“A can of Diet Coke does not provide any nutrients. You must replace it with a more nutritious drink that replaces the essential minerals that your body loses all the time”, he continues.

“That [beber Coca diet] it will never quench your thirst as it dehydrates rather than hydrates your body. The lack of nutrients can lead to ‘brain fog’, poor concentration, fatigue and feelings of irritation”, warns Niraj Narik.

When asked to comment on the pharmacist’s remarks, the Coca-Cola Company declined to comment.
