After the PT asked for command of one of the main windows on the Esplanade, the graduated president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)invited the former governor and senator-elect, Camilo Santana (PT-CE), to assume the Ministry of Education.
The decision to accept the portfolio was not announced, formally, because it depended on a conversation with the current governor of Ceará, Isolde Celawhich took place this Thursday (15).
Former pedetista and today without a party, she was quoted to head Education, but should occupy the Basic Education Secretariat in the future government.
Izolda’s nomination was taken for granted, until Ceará’s PT claimed the portfolio. The Ceará bench gained strength after winning the state government in the first round, in the midst of an arm wrestling match with former governor Ciro Gomes (PDT).
Izolda even traveled to Brasilia for Lula’s graduation ceremony, until then as the most quoted for the role. On the eve, however, the president-elect heard restrictions in his name.
According to an ally of the former governor of Ceará, Lula’s invitation to Santana was made during a meeting on Monday (12), in Brasília. Federal deputy José Guimarães (PT-CE) and the elected governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas (PT) also followed the conversation.
Santana traveled this Thursday (15) to Fortaleza to meet with Izolda and discuss the succession at MEC.
Lula may still confirm new ministers in the coming days. PT allies say that part of the announcements should be made between Friday (16) and Sunday (18).
Some names head the bets for the ministries, like sociologist Nísia Trindade Lima, president of Fiocruz, for Healthand that of elected federal deputy Luiz Marinho (PT-SP) for Labor.
Attorney at the National Treasury, Jorge Messias is quoted for the AGU (Advocacy-General of the Union), while Vinícius Marques de Carvalho, former president of Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense), should take over the CGU (Controladoria-Geral da União) .
Also likely names for the Esplanada dos Ministérios are elected federal deputy Marina Silva, for the Ministry of the Environment, in addition to Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations) and Silvio Almeida (Human Rights).
Lula invited the president of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), Josué Gomes, to head the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).
The petista has signaled to allies that the political seams and the vote on the Transition PEC in the Chamber should postpone the final announcement of the composition of the Esplanada dos Ministérios.
The plan is to concentrate announcements by political ministers after the proposal is approved.
